Coal India October Output Jumps 19.3% to 67.2 Million Tonnes
October offtake rose 18.7% to 70.3 million tonnes, while supply to the power sector climbed about 19% to an all-time monthly high of 57.1 million tonnes. The gains were driven by strong output at regional subsidiaries including Western Coalfields and Mahanadi Coalfields, with Bharat Coking Coal adding 7.1% production growth to 2.86 million tonnes. Cumulative April-October FY27 production edged up just 0.7% to 388.2 million tonnes, and Bharat Coking Coal's fiscal-year output remains negative.
SAIL, Bharat Coking Coal sign MoU to develop two West Bengal coal blocks
2 Min Read State-owned Steel Authority of India Ltd (SAIL) and Bharat Coking Coal Ltd (BCCL) on Friday (September 25) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the joint development and operation of two coal blocks in West Bengal. The agreement covers SAIL’s Indikatta Ramnagore Coal Block and BCCL’s East of Damagoria (Kalyaneshwari) Coal Block. The MoU marks a step towards developing domestic sources of coking coal, according to SAIL’s regulatory filing.
Coal India July output up 8.4%
In July, Coal India's coal production increased by 8.4% to 50.36 million tonnes and offtake saw a significant jump by 17.4%, indicating strong growth in the sector.
