Rupee rally cuts gold prices by ₹7,270 per 10 grams
A surge in the rupee, driven by a flood of FCNR(B) deposits, has made gold cheaper for domestic buyers, slashing prices by ₹7,270 per 10 grams. The rally has also softened certificate of deposit (CD) rates as banks stay away from raising funds. Meanwhile, analysts are watching US inflation data, crude oil movements, and the Iran crisis for further direction in bullion prices this week.
Geopolitical concerns drive gold rally
2 Min Read Gold prices extended their rally for a fourth consecutive session on Thursday (August 6), while silver also edged higher, as a combination of easing geopolitical concerns, a weaker US dollar and falling Treasury yields boosted demand for precious metals. On COMEX, gold futures climbed 1.3% to $4,361.30 an ounce, while silver futures gained 0.65% to $62.695 an ounce. In the spot market, gold touched $4,285.84 an ounce, its highest level since June 18.

3 Min Read Gold prices edged lower on Thursday (July 23) after rallying to a two-week high in the previous session, as investors assessed rising geopolitical tensions in the West Asia while awaiting next week's US Federal Reserve policy meeting for further direction on interest rates. On the COMEX, gold futures were trading at $4,116.50 per ounce, down $35.40 or 0.85% an ounce. Silver futures also declined 0.83% to $59.795 per ounce, retreating after Wednesday's (July 22's) gains.
